This educational webinar focuses on the unique oral health needs of children and youth in foster care across Virginia. Participants will learn about common oral health challenges faced by this population, the importance of preventive dental care, and strategies to support timely access to services.
The session will highlight Cardinal Care Smiles, Virginia’s Medicaid dental program, and explain how coverage, benefits, and provider access support children in foster care. Representatives and insights aligned with DentaQuest, the dental benefits administrator, and the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) will be included to help attendees better understand program coordination, eligibility, and available resources.
This webinar is designed for foster parents, caseworkers, community partners, educators, and healthcare professionals who support children and families involved in Virginia’s foster care system and are interested in improving oral health outcomes through education, collaboration, and system awareness.
