Virtual event “The Digital Dilemma: Becton”

This course will absolutely change the way that you view Big Tech’s role in the life of your child. From it’s effect on mental and physical health, to its impact on school success, and the likelihood that it will invite a predator into your child’s life, Big Tech must be viewed as a Big Threat.

But at the same time, there’s no stopping us from being involved in the digital world. Fortunately, there are some proven techniques that can protect both adults and kids from the multitude of diverse threats online. In this class, we answer your most pressing questions, and those of your kids, while also exposing the threats that you likely knew nothing about. This high-tech and the fast-moving course will walk you through the best practices and actually show you how to change the settings and hardware needed to maintain a safe and healthy environment online.

Parents will learn how and why to set limits on their kid’s internet-connected devices. They will learn the difference between encrypted and non-encrypted communications, the pitfalls of two-factor authentication, the scams used by identity thieves and sextortion teams, the most common methods that hackers use to compromise your information, and the most common practices used by Big Tech to exploit your privacy online.

We’ll also review the dangers of spreading false information online and describe how to avoid hate, bullying, fake news, sexual predators, and dangerous content on social media. Protect your privacy, promote positive etiquette, avoid online challenges, become a good digital citizen and help ensure your own mental well-being. Live demonstrations and hands-on techniques will be displayed in this fast-moving and wildly informative family seminar. Recommended for all parents. Content is appropriate for kids 10 years and up, but the seminar length may be trying for younger kids.
