About Black Folk:

Unveiling the often overlooked stories of Black working-class heroes, Blair LM Kelley’s Black Folk highlights the lives of laundresses, Pullman porters, domestic maids, and postal workers who shaped America’s narrative. From her own family’s experiences to essential workers during the Covid-19 pandemic, Kelley illuminates the labor that has driven generations toward a brighter future.

This event is made possible in partnership with The Word is Change, a local Brooklyn bookstore serving as the bookseller for the evening.
