Set in 1959 Nevada, Desert Hearts follows Vivian Bell, a reserved Columbia University professor who travels to Reno to file for divorce. While staying at a ranch, she meets Cay Rivers, a free-spirited young sculptor, and the two develop a passionate romantic relationship that challenges societal norms and Vivian’s inhibitions. As their connection deepens, Vivian must confront her fears of self-discovery and acceptance in a conservative era.
