Thursday Night Movies “The Patsy” (1928)

“The Patsy” is a 1928 silent romantic comedy film starring Marion Davies. It tells the story of Patricia Harrington, nicknamed “Patsy,” the younger daughter in a family where her older sister, Grace, is favored and considered the beautiful and talented one.

Patsy, often overlooked and underestimated, is constantly trying to gain her family’s attention and affection. She tries to emulate her sister, attempting to become more glamorous and sophisticated, but her efforts usually result in humorous mishaps and comical situations.

Despite her family’s lack of appreciation, Patsy remains kind and optimistic. She eventually finds her path to happiness and proves that true beauty and worth come from within. Along the way, she finds romance and proves her unique value, often through her comedic misadventures. The film is a lighthearted and charming story about self-discovery, finding love, and the importance of being true to oneself.
