Babes in Toyland is a musical fantasy film that follows the adventures of Tom Piper and Mary Contrary in Mother Goose Land and Toyland. They have to deal with the evil Barnaby, who wants to marry Mary and get her fortune, and his henchmen Gonzorgo and Roderigo, who try to drown Tom and steal Mary’s sheep. Along the way, they meet the Toymaker and his living toys, who help them fight against Barnaby and his army of boogeymen. The film is based on the operetta by Victor Herbert and Glen MacDonough, and stars Ray Bolger, Tommy Sands, Annette Funicello, and Ed Wynn, among others. It was released in 1961 and produced by Walt Disney Productions.
