Manhattan Short Film Festival

The 26th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival, a weeklong worldwide contest that allows the audience to choose the winner, will take once again place at the Englewood Public Library. The 10 short films can be seen on any of the following dates:

This program is free and open to the public, and registration is recommended but not required at bccls.org, choosing Library Events, then Englewood, and selecting the session you prefer.

The Englewood Public Library is one of only three venues in Bergen County that will be participating in this year’s festival.

Audiences at each venue will be handed a voting card upon entry to each cinema and asked to vote for the ONE film they think should win. Each of the 10 films being screened is eligible for Oscar consideration for 2023. The short films featured are intended for viewing by adults only.

Please note that the same films will be repeated at each show. The idea is to offer times convenient to as many film lovers as possible.

This worldwide event is taking place in over 500 venues across six continents between September 28 and October 8, 2023. Manhattan Short is the only event of its kind. The Final Ten screens simultaneously across the world during a one-week period, with the Best Film and Best Actor awards determined by ballots cast by the audiences in each participating venue. By virtue of their selection by Manhattan Shorts, each short film is automatically Oscar-qualified.

The 10 Manhattan Short finalists hail from eight countries with films from Australia, Afghanistan, Finland, Iran, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Canada alongside three short films from the USA.

For further information on the Film Festival, please e-mail [email protected], or visit the film festival’s website. The Englewood Public Library is located at 31 Engle Street, Englewood, NJ.
