Free Movie Screening of “Illusions perdues”

The French & Francophone Society of Princeton University invites you to its first big event co-organized and co-sponsored by all the local Francophone organizations of Princeton: a film screening of Xavier Gianolli’s 2021 internationally-acclaimed and award-winning Illusion perdue (Lost Illusions) based on French writer Balzac’s eponymous novel and casting, among others, Cécile de France and Gérard Depardieu.

The film will be shown in French with English subtitles (see the trailer here).

The projection will be preceded by a 5-minute introduction to Balzac’s novel and its context by Assistant Professor Dr. Céline Brossillon of Ursinus University.

This event is open to both members and non-members of Princeton University. Good news: the Princeton Garden Theater also allows attendees to bring their own food and non-alcoholic drinks.

Access: The Princeton Garden Theater’s website indicates that it “is fully equipped for handicap access.”
