Queer Art Winterfest Returns To 3 Dollar Bill With Free Health Services Provided By AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

BROOKLYN — (November 29, 2022) — This holiday, Brooklyn-based nonprofit Queer Art Fest Inc. returns to 3 Dollar Bill on Saturday, December 10 for year two of Queer Art Winterfest. The event is one of New York City’s only Queer-created holiday marketplaces that waives vendor fees for participating merchants, furthering the organization’s mission of economic empowerment for LGBTQIA+ creators.

Beyond an expanded roster of merchants and performers, WINTERFEST 2022 offers a powerful, affirming space for Queer individuals and allies to celebrate the holidays — despite the recent wave of political attacks and tragic acts of violence against the LGBTQIA+ community.

“Queer people come from a rich history of taking care of their own, and WINTERFEST is proud to continue that tradition,” says Queer Art Fest co-founder Carlos Garcia. “At this particular moment where our community is being villainized and brutally targeted, we are proud to create a space that prioritizes Queer health, happiness, and empowerment, without apologies.”

The return of WINTERFEST brings with it a purposeful focus on the intersection of healthcare and the arts through a direct partnership with the global nonprofit AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the largest provider of HIV/AIDS medical care in the world. AHF will be activating a pop-up community center within the event, offering HIV screenings and more.

Now in year two, WINTERFEST is one of Queer Art Fest’s biggest events of the year, attracting approximately 1,000 attendees in 2021 for a full-day marketplace and performance lineup of drag, DJs, and performers. Participating artists and vendors featured within the marketplace span multiple categories, including photography, zines, jewelry, home goods, baked goods, fashion, fine art, and more. Performances and raffle prize draws will be ongoing throughout the day, along with complimentary non-alcoholic beverages provided by Recess & Liquid Death.
