Arlo’s Living Room Gallery: Paul Kuntze Opening Reception

Join us this February for Arlo’s Living Room Gallery Opening Reception in Arlo Midtown featuring paintings by Paul Kuntze.

Calling all art lovers, collectors and enthusiasts! Join us on Friday, February 6th, 6-8pm for a new art exhibit and a panel discussion with the gallerists. Sounds by a live violinist will accompany the night. There is a full service cocktail bar at the Bar Room at Altair for drinks and bites available for purchase.

The Arlo Living Room Gallery Series was created by Jasmine Arakel with the mission to bring contemporary art into publicly accessible spaces at Arlo Hotels. In partnership with Square One Gallery and for a limited time, we’re thrilled to exhibit the beautiful celestial paintings of Paul Kuntze.

About the Artist

As a child, Paul Kuntze was already fascinated by ceiling paintings. Whenever he visited an old church, museum, or castle, the first thing he would do was look up. The question of how the painter could create such precise and detailed images, high up on the ceiling, always intrigued him. Kuntze holds the utmost respect for those who were able to achieve such incredible works in the past.

In his series “Modern Fresco,” he combines two styles from different artistic eras. Drawing from abstract expressionism, he attempts to depict monumental scenes of the heavens and gods, evoking memories of classical ceiling frescoes from the Baroque period. Rather than fully rendering the scene, he hints at figures and faces, encouraging viewers to engage their own creativity. Kuntze strives for precision and aesthetic quality in every brushstroke. His paintings consist of many layers, beginning with a background gradient created with acrylic sprays. Thin layers of clouds follow, and finally, individual figures and clouds are rendered in thickly applied paint to achieve the best possible contrast.Ejoy live entertainment, meet the gallerists and mingle with like-minded socialites. This event is open to the public, so feel free to bring your friends, colleagues, and open minds for a night of fine art, drinks, and discussion.

These artworks are available for purchase. You may simply scan the QR code next to the art for pricing and contact info. The gallerists will also be present at the event should you wish to speak to them directly.
