Bob Stanley Exhibition
We are happy to announce a new two-part exhibition of fine art! Victor Gallery is proud to present, ‘Bob Stanley, The Art of an American Pop Art Pioneer’ running concurrently at both our New York and Washington area galleries.
Bob Stanley (1932 — 1997) may need no introduction for aficionados of American Modern Art. Born in Yonkers, New York, Bob Stanley became a fixture of the 1960s New York art scene exhibiting with Paul Bianchini as early as 1965 and later teaching at the School of Visual Arts for sixteen years. While his early works focused on collage, he became particularly renowned for his bold two-colored, sometimes contrasting, and other times ton sur ton, paintings. These initial works were based on photographs, often of contemporaneous iconic personalities such as James Brown and Mick Jagger, to name just a couple, and were drawn from print media. His later paintings began to incorporate his original photography as well.
The exhibition runs concurrently in two parts at our New York and Washington spaces. Each gallery will be exhibiting separate works of art, all of which may also be seen on our website, Victor Gallery.
