Exhibition “Carthage”

TAYP NYC is excited to invite you to a private tour of the art exhibit “CARTHAGE” by (and with) Fedele Spadafora

Brother Kenneth Chapman Gallery at Iona University is pleased to present Carthage, a collection of paintings and drawings created by American artist Fedele Spadafora on the subject of Tunisia from 2012 to 2023.

Fedele Spadafora’s first encounter with post-revolutionary societies dates back to 1991 when his bohemian leanings led him to move to Prague from Michigan to work as an artist, illustrator, and book publisher right after the Velvet Revolution of 1989. Roll forward a few years, it was time for love, marriage, and family to lead Fedele to Tunisia, arriving just months after the Jasmine Revolution of 2011 that kicked off the Arab Spring. As a painter, Spadafora has an interest in painting places he has deeply experienced. In 2013, Spadafora first presented paintings on the subject of both Tunisia and Prague in an exhibition titled New Paintings at Slag Contemporary in New York. As a restless traveler, he has continued to divide his time between New York and Tunisian tracing and capturing the massive revolutionary enthusiasm that he documents and follows throughout this new exhibit, CARTHAGE.

Come join fellow TAYPers for an exclusive look at this captivating art exhibit. The group of Tunisian art enthusiasts will be taking a train from Grand Central around 10:00-10:30 AM. We will reach out to the attendees with the logistical information.
