Exhibition “Between Two Breaths”
The exhibition, “Between Two Breaths”, consists of a group of sculptures and drawings that reveal traces of physical impact on material, and focuses on Benarroch’s ongoing research and process, and how we perceive it, also in relation to a feeling of displacement in migration. The sculptures, mainly made out of resin, cement, latex, and bronze, include residues or the process of making, and they can range from totem-like forms to amorphous shapes. Aiming to challenge hierarchies between artist and their material, the Israeli-Spanish artist David Benarroch is mainly preoccupied with attempting to enable the material to express itself and not only in subjugating it to his wills and wants. The exhibition is part of his exploration of the dynamics of varied materials with the human body’s movements, echoing also personal movements that reshape his concept of home.
