Paddy Irishman Immersive Photo Exhibition Launch
Three years in the making and the only multi-media photographic study of its kind, The Paddy Irishman Project introduces us to 50 men named Paddy from across the island of Ireland.
All wear the name proudly and have been photographed by Ross O’Callaghan a photographer and award-winning cinematographer in television and film. Seen in large-scale photographs, which are accompanied by candid audio reflections by the subjects on their lives and the Irish experience today
The Paddy Irishman Project sets out to debunk the Paddy Irishman stereotype, which despite its use as a slur, is still a moniker of pride for many born Patricks. The slur migrated to America where Irish Americans who were not of Anglo-Saxon heritage experienced intense abuse and discrimination throughout the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.
