Guttenberg Arts Gallery is pleased to present Along the Way an exhibition of new work by artist Lynn Keffer. On view from November 19th — December 11th, 2022 at the Guttenberg Arts Gallery with an opening reception on Saturday, November 19th, 7 pm — 9 pm. Guttenberg Arts Gallery is open by appointment only Tuesday — Sunday, 10 am — 4 pm, and anytime, virtually on our website. Patrons can schedule their visit or view the virtual gallery by going to guttenbergarts.org/exhibitions.

Lynn Keffer began making etchings over 25 years ago at The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, located in Summit. Prior to that, her professional background was in graphic design and art direction, working on magazines, annual reports, and other corporate communications. More recently she started using her etchings as content for her artist books.

Working with a series of etched surfaces, her starting point is controlled and structured. Then, the structure is changed in visual ways, through the use of color as well as layers and masking techniques. The challenge is to explore what is the third thing, or fourth layer that can influence the image. In these images of a symbolic house, or grid of houses, the addition of the layered graphic patterns is controlled, but in the process of printing, surprises happen. The starting point is like a phrase, but it can be edited to retell the narrative.
