SIDC is a school year-long internship and development program designed to train young computer science students to become SummerTech and Coditum instructors and gain benefits to promote their success through high school, college, and into their internships and careers.

SIDC participants will train to become SummerTech and Coditum instructors as well as gain the following benefits and skills:

• Evolving your explanations

Components of SIDC

SIDC students will receive the following:

• Advanced Skills in desired focus (Python, Java, Animation, or 3D Modeling)
• Weekly class observations, assisting, and feedback from Mentor
• Monthly teaching skills classes
• Mentorship and written feedback
• Certificate of completion

SIDC students will participate in

• Weekly Advanced Skills Classes (Continuing your studies)
• Weekly Instructor Training
• Observations and Assisting (first half of year)
• Solo Teaching (second half of year)
• Monthly Teaching Skills classes

Time commitment:

• Thirty Teacher Development Sessions 1.5 hours per week
• Observation and assisting
• Teaching your own students
• Thirty 1.5 hour advanced skills classes per month
• Continue your studies in Python, Java, Animation or 3D
• One 1.5 hour Teaching Skills Class per month
• Lecture-style class
• Provided by current and alumni expert SummerTech/Coditum instructors
• Four hours Help Desk assignments per month
• Total time commitment: Approximately 152 Hours between September ‘22 and June ‘23
