The session will provide an introduction to deafness and consider some of the existing misconceptions that prevail regarding the topic. In addition, the session will discuss deaf etiquette and methods of communication, plus a quick look at some of the assistive technologies that are used, together with the role that language service professionals (interpreters) play.
There will be time allocated at the end of the webinar to take questions and provide answers.
We hope that this short two-hour session will increase awareness of some of the different aspects of how deaf people interact with the hearing world. this may be of benefit to anyone who would like to know a little more about the challenges faced by deaf people or who perhaps has an interest in learning British Sign Language as having this appreciation may help in developing a deeper appreciation of the importance of BSL in the life of a deaf person.
This two-hour online session delivered by the deaf studies team of Grwp Llandrillo Menai in conjunction with POA learning will be offered twice during the day so that those interested can select a time suited to their needs.
