Hear from long-time author and educator Ellin Oliver Keene to learn how this approach helps to address scheduling challenges, increase classroom engagement, create valuable connections between reading and writing, and more.

About the Presenter

Ellin Oliver Keene has been a classroom teacher, staff developer, non-profit director, and adjunct reading and writing professor. She directed staff development initiatives at the Denver-based Public Education & Business Coalition for 16 years. She served as Deputy Director and Director of Literacy and Staff Development for the Cornerstone Project at the University of Pennsylvania for four years. Ellin works with schools and districts throughout the country and abroad, emphasizing long-term, school-based professional development, and strategic planning for literacy learning. Ellin is a Heinemann PD provider, presenting One-Day Workshops, Series, and all forms of On-Site PD. She is most sought after for her long-term professional development residencies in partnership with Heinemann Professional Learning.

About the Moderator

Jaclyn Karabinas is an energetic, creative educator who was a classroom teacher from 2001–2014. Now a lead instructional designer with Heinemann Professional Learning, she spent eight years as an independent consultant, staff developer, and instructional coach. She has a passion for mixing and matching her skill sets from the worlds of educational technology, arts integration, and progressive literacy instruction. Jaclyn holds a master’s degree in arts integration in curriculum and instruction. She is a Google for Education Certified Trainer and a UNH Learning Through Teaching adjunct.
