When: June 20, 2025
Where: Governor`s Island

Address: 10 South Street, New York, NY 10004, United States

Take the ferry over to our green oasis for a special guided tour to discover and connect with the plants and insects that call this place home. Led by the Governors Island Nature program along with insect ecologist Amy Berkov, this guided tour will take participants on a journey through Hammock Grove, a 10-acre urban forest where we’re creating an authentic forest understory with multiple generations of trees and robust shrub thickets filling leftover space.

You’ll get to learn about these resilient, built landscapes directly from the people who know them best, and get the chance to participate in different community science projects. Click here to download the iNaturalist app in advance so you can log all the wildlife you spot during your visit. The Insect Nature Walk is free and open to all, and is held entirely outdoors on Governors Island. The tour will depart from Liggett Terrace, click here for directions.
