Join the City College of New York in celebrating the 100th anniversary of our hometown giant, James Baldwin, with a journey through the iconic places in Harlem connected to the literary legend and civil rights champion.

During the tour, we will delve into Baldwin’s life and works, highlighting the significant locations in Harlem where he lived, wrote, preached, studied, and inspired countless others. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or new to Baldwin’s work, this tour promises to deepen your understanding of the influence of Harlem upon the writer, and the writer’s influence on literature. The tour will be led by CCNY librarian and Harlemite, William Gibbons.

Don’t miss this chance to explore Baldwin’s world, celebrate his enduring impact on our culture, and honor his centennial with CCNY.

This tour departs from Harlem Library, 9 W 124th St, New York, NY 10027, and ends at The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture at 515 Malcolm X Blvd, New York, NY 10037.
