The design for Hudson River Park’s Pier 26 is inspired by the Manhattan shoreline that would have existed prior to Henry Hudson’s 1609 expedition. The pier includes a series of ecological communities representing this native landscape, from a woodland forest to the rocky tidal zone and the Hudson River itself.

One of the most unique of these native coastal environments is on the Tide Deck, which is a manufactured rocky tidal marsh located on the western end of the pier. The Tide Deck ebbs and floods with our daily tidal cycle and features many interesting habitat enhancements including tide pools.

Join our River Project staff to learn more about this special environment during a guided tour of the Tide Deck. Space is limited, so we encourage you to sign up today, and tours are offered every 30 minutes.

Can’t make it on a Wednesday? Free, drop-in tours are also available on Sundays from July 10 — September 25 between 3:00 pm-4:30 pm.
