Continuing in the theme of Abya Yala, an artist discussion will follow the performance where Pablo Helguera will be joined by Bel Falleiros, Garvin Sierra, and Longwood Art Gallery Director Lucia Warck-Meister.
Disharmonious Incidents of the Rational World is a multimedia performance, by Pablo Helguera, with narrative and musical elements reflecting on the current global moment defined by the re-emergence of authoritarianism. The work is a reference to the text by the Mexican writer Juan de la Cabada (1899-1986) entitled “Harmonic incidents of the irrational world”, inspired by the cultural tradition of the Mayans. The work revolves around the photographic documentation of the 1968 Student movement in Mexico City and the Tlatelolco massacre.
