Discussing The Gathering Dark: An Anthology of Folk Horror by Tori Bovalino

Pizza Provided! Hosted by Greenlight bookseller Micah, the YA Book Group is a space for the curious young reader interested in a curated, intentionally diverse, and broad selection of books. While literature is of course at the core of this book group, cultivating our very own community and connections are also at the root of YABG, so if this sounds like a good time to you, join the fun! Note: The Young Adult Book Group is geared toward readers aged 13 and above.

For October, the group discusses The Gathering Dark, a folk horror anthology edited by Tori Bovalino. A cemetery full of the restless dead. A town so wicked it has already burned twice, with the breath of the third fire looming. A rural, isolated bridge with a terrifying monster waiting for the completion of its summoning ritual. These are the shadowed, liminal spaces where the curses and monsters lurk, refusing to be forgotten. Written by New York Times bestselling and other critically acclaimed authors, these stories shed a harsh light on the scariest tales we grew up with.
