For September, the group discusses P. Djèlí Clark’s award-winning and World Fantasy-nominated novel A Master of Djinn. Set in Cairo, 1912, Clark’s dazzling full-length debut follows Fatma el-Sha’arawi, the youngest woman working for the Ministry of Alchemy, Enchantments and Supernatural Entities. Certainly no rookie — especially after preventing the destruction of the universe last summer — when someone murders a secret brotherhood, dedicated to one of the most famous men in history, and claims to be that very man; someone whose dangerous abilities instigate unrest in the streets of Cairo and threaten to spill over onto the global stage — it’s Agent Fatma who’s called onto the case.
