Introducing Nature Health — a new journal of public health

Nature Health is the first journal within the Nature portfolio focusing on population health, covering topics such as public, global, environmental, and digital health. The journal’s Chief Editor, Ben Johnson, will present an overview of its scope and goals.

About the speaker

Dr. Ben Johnson is Chief Editor of Nature Health, a new journal focusing on public, global, and population health, set to launch in January 2026.

Ben has a PhD in infectious diseases and has conducted virology and vaccine research at Public Health England (now the UK Health Security Agency) and Imperial College London, before moving into academic publishing.

Ben has more than 15 years of experience as a journal editor, publisher, and science communicator, including as an Associate Publisher at BMC, Head of Communities & Engagement at Springer Nature (including launching the Nature Portfolio Instagram account), and former Editor at Nature Medicine, with responsibility for news and opinion content.

He has a strong interest in research conducted in resource-limited settings, including in the global south, in how research influences health policy, and in equitable strategies to involve patients and communities in research. He is based in London, U.K.

This lecture will be on the CUNY SPH campus, but those who are unable to attend in person will be able to tune in to a livestream of the lecture via Zoom. All registrants should RSVP. Virtual attendees will receive the livestream link after registering.
