Grand Rounds lecture series with Yele Aluko, MD, FACC, MBA, DBA (Honoris Causa):

Health Equity at a Crossroads: Aligning the narrative and business case

About the event

Dr. Yele Aluko will discuss health inequity in the US, not being uniquely a racial issue, but rather a crisis affecting all populations. The health industry and society have unintentionally limited broader engagement and allowed apathy among those who do not see themselves in the narrative of health equity affecting everyone. In order to make a meaningful change, health equity must be reframed as a strategic priority impacting everyone — workforce productivity, consumer trust, advancing population health, organizational performance, and national resilience.

About the speaker

Yele Aluko, MD, FACC, MBA, is a physician executive, health industry strategist, global health equity advocate, and former Managing Director and Chief Medical Officer at EY Americas. He is the founding director of the EY Center for Health Equity, where he led enterprise-level strategies to address disparities in healthcare delivery and outcomes. With a unique blend of business insight and clinical expertise, Dr. Aluko advises healthcare system executives on industry megatrends, transformational strategy, and innovation to drive equitable care and sustainable growth. Before joining EY, he spent over two decades in both clinical practice and in physician leadership at an integrated 15-hospital network healthcare system valued at $10 billion in the southeastern United States, where he led the growth and integration of its heart and vascular service lines. He is board-certified in cardiovascular medicine, interventional cardiology, and internal medicine in both the U.S. and Canada. Dr. Aluko also has subspecialty training in interventional and structural heart disease.
