Eccentric inventor Wayne Szalinski (Rick Moranis) accidentally shrinks himself and his neighbor’s kids to a quarter-inch tall with his experimental shrinking machine. The tiny children are then thrown away into the backyard, where they must navigate a now-giant world filled with towering grass, terrifying insects, and other hazards to make their way back home and convince their parents of their predicament. Along the way, they learn teamwork and courage while Wayne and his wife Diane (Marcia Strassman) frantically search for their missing children.
