Directed by Kevin Lima, “Enchanted” is a live-action/animated romantic comedy that playfully satirizes classic Disney fairy tales. The film follows Giselle (Amy Adams), a cheerful animated princess-to-be who is banished from her idyllic animated kingdom of Andalasia by the evil Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) and thrust into the gritty, modern-day streets of New York City. Disoriented but ever-optimistic, Giselle crosses paths with Robert (Patrick Dempsey), a cynical divorce lawyer who reluctantly takes her in. As Giselle’s wide-eyed innocence and belief in true love clash with the real world, she begins to adapt, while also charming those around her, including Robert and his young daughter. Meanwhile, her animated prince, Edward (James Marsden), and a loyal chipmunk sidekick pursue her to New York, leading to a whimsical showdown where fairy-tale magic collides with reality. Blending humor, romance, and catchy musical numbers, *Enchanted* is a heartwarming tribute to — and gentle parody of — Disney’s classic storytelling.

“Enchanted” (2007) follows a fairy-tale princess, Giselle, who is exiled from her animated world to modern-day New York, where her idealism clashes with reality — until she begins to change the hearts of those around her. The film mixes live-action and animation, humor and romance, as it both celebrates and pokes fun at classic Disney tropes.
