“Clueless” (1995), directed by Amy Heckerling, is a modern adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Emma”, set in the affluent world of Beverly Hills. The film follows Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone), a popular, fashionable, and well-meaning but somewhat superficial high school student. Cher lives a life of privilege with her lawyer father and spends her days navigating the social hierarchy of her school with her best friend, Dionne (Stacey Dash).

Cher enjoys playing matchmaker, using her charm and influence to pair up classmates, but her efforts often lead to comedic mishaps. When she decides to give the new student, Tai (Brittany Murphy), a makeover and help her rise in popularity, her plans backfire as Tai becomes more popular than Cher herself. Along the way, Cher begins to question her values and relationships, particularly with her ex-stepbrother Josh (Paul Rudd), a college student who challenges her worldview.

Filled with witty dialogue, iconic ’90s fashion, and a satirical take on teen culture, “Clueless” is a coming-of-age story that explores themes of self-discovery, friendship, and love. The film became a cultural touchstone and remains a beloved classic for its humor, heart, and timeless appeal.
