“The Prodigal” tells the story of Micah, the son of a respected Hebrew farmer in ancient Assyria. Restless and yearning for a life beyond his religious upbringing, Micah rejects his family and their beliefs, choosing instead to travel to the opulent city of Damascus. There, he is seduced by the pleasures of the world — wealth, wine, and the beautiful but manipulative priestess Samarra. He becomes embroiled in a life of decadence and sin, quickly abandoning his moral compass. As Micah descends deeper into his new life, he faces the consequences of his choices, losing his fortune and finding himself enslaved. The film explores themes of temptation, redemption, and the conflict between religious devotion and worldly desires, drawing inspiration from the biblical parable of the prodigal son. It is a visually lavish and dramatic epic that delves into the moral and spiritual struggles of a young man torn between two worlds.
