“The Mermaid” tells the fantastical story of Shan, a mermaid who is part of a secret community of merfolk living in a protected cove. When Liu Xuan, a wealthy and ruthless real estate developer, begins an ambitious project that threatens their home with pollution and destruction, Shan is sent on a mission to assassinate him. To get close to him, she poses as a human and manages to infiltrate his life, but their initial confrontation leads to a series of humorous misunderstandings and unexpected events. As Shan and Liu Xuan spend more time together, they begin to develop a connection, forcing Shan to question her mission, and Liu Xuan to re-evaluate his impact on the environment. The film combines elements of romance, comedy, fantasy, and environmental awareness, exploring themes of greed, ecological responsibility, and the power of love to transcend differences. The vibrant visuals and unique blend of genres make it a unique and entertaining experience.
