In the 1962 version of The Manchurian Candidate, Major Bennett Marco, a Korean War veteran, is haunted by disturbing dreams. He believes his platoon was involved in a deadly ambush, but no one else remembers it.

Meanwhile, Marco’s friend, Raymond Shaw, a decorated war hero and a rising star in the political world, seems to be the perfect candidate for the vice presidency. However, Marco becomes suspicious when he notices Raymond’s odd behavior and a strange tattoo on his arm.

Marco’s suspicions are confirmed when he discovers that the Korean ambush was staged by communist forces. He learns that Raymond has been brainwashed and programmed to assassinate the presidential candidate. Marco struggles to break through Raymond’s programmed mind and expose the conspiracy before it’s too late.

The film, a chilling tale of political intrigue and mind control, explores themes of patriotism, loyalty, and the dangers of manipulation. It remains a classic, both for its suspenseful plot and its commentary on the Cold War era.
