In the grimy underbelly of Victorian London, orphaned Oliver Twist is born into a life of poverty and hardship. Abandoned by his mother and thrust into the cruel world of the workhouse, Oliver endures a brutal existence marked by hunger and neglect.
Driven by his relentless hunger, Oliver dares to ask for “more” porridge, a transgression that earns him a brutal punishment and banishment from the workhouse. He escapes and finds himself in the clutches of the Artful Dodger, a cunning young pickpocket who introduces him to the criminal underworld led by the sinister Fagin.
Fagin, a master manipulator, trains Oliver to become a thief, exploiting his innocence and vulnerability. Despite the harsh realities of his new life, Oliver retains a flicker of hope and a longing for something better. His inherent goodness clashes with the corrupting influence of Fagin and his gang, leading him to a perilous path.
Oliver’s fate takes a dramatic turn when he is apprehended during a robbery and taken into the custody of the kindly Mr. Brownlow. Mr. Brownlow recognizes a spark of nobility in the young boy and attempts to offer him a better life. However, Fagin and his cohorts, determined to reclaim their prize, orchestrate a series of cunning schemes to retrieve Oliver.
As Oliver navigates the treacherous world of crime and poverty, he faces numerous dangers and encounters a cast of colorful characters, including the compassionate Nancy, Fagin’s lover, and the ruthless Bill Sikes, a brutal criminal. He is torn between his loyalty to Fagin and his yearning for a life of honesty and decency.
The film culminates in a thrilling climax, as Oliver’s true identity is revealed, and he is reunited with his long-lost family. The final confrontation with the criminal underworld brings justice and a glimmer of hope for Oliver’s future.
