“Irma la Douce” is a romantic comedy that follows the story of Nestor, a struggling Parisian law student, who falls head over heels for Irma, a beautiful and charming prostitute. Desperate to be with her, Nestor creates a fake identity as a wealthy baron, “X”, and becomes her regular client.

However, Nestor’s double life becomes increasingly difficult to maintain. He struggles financially, juggling his student life with his lavish “X” persona. Meanwhile, he is also becoming increasingly jealous of the other men in Irma’s life, leading to hilarious and chaotic situations.

The film humorously and lightly explores themes of love, identity, and social class. It features memorable musical numbers and showcases the talents of Shirley MacLaine and Jack Lemmon in their respective roles. Ultimately, the film is a charming and witty exploration of the lengths people will go to for love.
