“The clothing we wear often is linked to human trafficking. It’s estimated that 98% of clothing was made with exploited labor or straight-up child labor. As a fashion designer, I take a stand to do the exact opposite of this. For over a decade, my company, Elegantees, has been employing survivors of human trafficking, and women who were at risk, to make the clothing. The redemptive workshop in Nepal is restoring lives, one elegant tee at a time” — Katie Martinez
Katie’s compassion for survivors is personal. Her incentive to grow the company is to get as much sewing work to survivors as possible! Come and step inside the workshop through the photographic lens you’ll see at the gallery.
Katie is a fashion designer and justice-focused entrepreneur. She is a Fashion Institute of Technology graduate who founded a clothing company in 2010 that is still here today and loves using her gifts to fight human trafficking. Katie is a follower of Christ and lives in Uptown Manhattan with her husband and two children. Read Katie’s Full Story.
