The Art of the Yaka and Suku Opening Reception

Published: November 9, 2022; Aithor: Julia Sonrisa

When: November 17, 2022

QCC Art Gallery is excited to host its first major exhibition reception since the pandemic!

The Art of Yaka and Suku features a wide collection of objects throughout the Yaka and Suku region of Democratic Republic of Congo. The exhibition presents some of the finest examples from a major donation by the Dr. Arthur P. Bourgeois estate with contributions from international private lenders.

An appreciation for the works will be enhanced by the inclusion of Dr. Bourgeios’ archival documents including field notes from (then) Zaire, films, photographs, and letters that informed his dissertation, as well as his many monographs and articles published throughout his career. This exhibition is curated by Scott Rodolitz.

Please note: the College has strict a covid policy for campus access — all guests MUST provide front gate security with either: a) proof of vaccination, or b) proof of a negative covid test within 7 days prior to the event.

All attendees must be on the RSVP list. Please RSVP by November 15, 2022.

This is a free event. Refreshments will be served.
