Join us for the exhibition to celebrate Mother Earth and life in all its harmonious forms.
Darna is the main principle of a harmonious Baltic worldview. The exhibition “Darna = Dharma = Harmony” manifests the spirit of Darna through art, translating Baltic ancestral wisdom from a matriarchal worldview into the present. The concept of harmony is explored not only as an aesthetic or moral value, but also as a fundamental structure of Baltic Vedic antiquity.
In this exhibition, seven Lithuanian artists, working across seven different genres, express the essence of Darna within our contemporary moment and in urban space. Each artist, in their own way, draws inspiration from the work of the Lithuanian-American archaeologist Marija Gimbutas, who dedicated her life to studying ancient European culture and an era in which harmony between humans and nature prevailed.
Let there be Darna. The exhibition opening will include a live performance by Giedula — a New York-based Lithuanian ethnographic ensemble specializing in “sutartinД—s” and traditional folk songs.
