Moshava Art is proud to present Fennel Eaters, a solo exhibition by painter Tal Tamam, who describes her work in the lineage of those “captur[ing] the instant before gravity takes over, when awareness begins to replace innocence.” Her vibrant scenes incorporate culturally significant vegetables in varying states of ripeness, wholeness or enjoyment, begging the question, “Just how messy is the space between fresh and forgotten?” Using 3D modeling programs to build and reshape her compositions from unusual perspectives, Tamam is able to observe each scene from the outside and adjust the relationships between her figures. The subjects are clumsy and often painted midway through distorted facial expressions, with even the paint applied in a way that is charged with movement, like a series of tumbles. This upcoming exhibition will feature the body of work she has built over the last three years at The New York Academy of Art.
Tal Tamam is an Israeli painter and graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, where she completed her studies in 2023. During her education, she also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 2021–2022. Tamam has participated in exhibitions across Israel, Vienna, and London, including group exhibitions at Hilger NEXT, Barbur Gallery, and Center Jerusalem Gallery.
