Davell Crawford is a New Orleans-born keyboardist, vocalist, composer, and arranger steeped in the rhythms and harmonies of his hometown. Known as the “Piano Prince of New Orleans,” he brings equal exuberance to both modern and classic jazz, gospel, R&B, funk, blues, gospel, soul, pop, folk and country. In the tradition of those from the Crescent City who came before him, Davell carries the New Orleans piano legacy along with the complete American roots legacy into the 21st Century.

At age seven, Davell made his first public appearance playing his favorite tunes on a piano outside of New Orleans’ famous coffee stand, Café du Monde. At just 10 years old, he made an impression on the New Orleans gospel community by taking on the position of accompanist to the St. Peter Claver Catholic Church choir. At 11 he became the youth choir director and pianist at the St. Joseph Baptist Church.

Davell is also committed to music education. He regularly gives master classes, workshops, and performances for adults and children of all ages, teaching the importance of jazz, gospel, funk, and R&B.

Held in conjunction with the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation.

Free and open to the public. Appropriate for all ages. Registration required. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
