Web: https://www.bohemiannationalhall.com/about-bnhSwing Concert and Talk Show of singer KateЕ™ina Král’ovská Steinerová and Her Swing Boys together with saying thank-you of Miroslav Konvalina to his colleagues and friends at the end of his five-year term serving as the director of the Czech Center New York. The evening will feature US and Czechoslovak swing melodies to pay tribute to this genre which connects the US with Europe. The concert is part of the Year of Czech Music 2024.
During the first part of the program, there will be a concert by KateЕ™ina Steinerová, and during the second part, the talk show of KateЕ™ina Steinerová and Miroslav Konvalina with several guests will take place. The singer will be accompanied by pianist JiЕ™í RЕЇЕѕiДЌka, guitar player Martin Adamovský, and bass player Keenan Zach.
After the performance, an informal part of the evening will follow, with refreshments available for purchase in the cash bar provided by the Bohemian Spirit Restaurant.
Program is a follow-up to the concert “Swingin´to Freedom”, which featured KateЕ™ina Steinerová and JiЕ™í RЕЇЕѕiДЌka in the Bohemian National Hall five years ago on the occasion of Miroslav Konvalina taking over the director’s post in the Czech Center New York.
Swing music has been linked with Czech history for decades. During the Second World War, swing reflected people´s longing for freedom. This feeling prevailed event during the era of the communist oppression when swing symbolized the free West. Nowadays, swing clubs ar more popular then ever all over Europe.
KateЕ™ina Steinerová is a musical actress, singer, swing and tap dance teacher, choreographer and MC, who in 2015 did record her debut album I LOVE PEGGY LEE. Her concert band HER SWING BOYS was founded in early 2015 and consists of professional musicians.
