The Muneer Nasser Jazz Group will present A Soldier’s Story at the Englewood Public Library on Sunday, May 19 at 7 p.m. on the library’s front plaza. The program is free and open to the public. Attendees will need to bring their own chairs and/or blankets. In case of rain, the concert will be held indoors on the main floor.

A Soldier’s Story is the musical companion of the book, Upright Bass: The Musical Life and Legacy of Jamil Nasser is a musical tribute to Muneer’s father, the late great bassist Jamil Nasser. The heartfelt zeal embodied in this music reflects not only his love and respect for his father’s musical and humanitarian efforts but also those of the musicians selected for this recording.

A Soldier’s Story has original music and some jazz standards like Caravan, Cherokee, and more. Muneer has been giving presentations about his father’s history in jazz along with playing bluesy jazz music. Muneer brings back fiery jazz with a touch of the blues.
