Cuban-born musician Paquito D’Rivera has won 11 combined Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards both for his artistry in Latin jazz and his achievements as a classical composer. With a catalog including over 30 solo albums, “he has become the consummate multinational ambassador, creating and promoting a cross-culture of music that moves effortlessly among jazz, Latin, and Mozart,” according to the NEA. In an evening of performances and discussion, D’Rivera speaks with Mila Burns, associate director of the Center for Latin American, Caribbean and Latino Studies (CLACLS) about his monumental performing career as a saxophonist and clarinetist, and his genre-crossing work in composition.

Presented with the Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies (CLACLS) and the Cuban Studies Group. Made possible by funds from the Elebash Global Voices Fund.
