Pictor Salon returns for a new edition on 6/18 with a cross-cultural jazz performance by the Daniel Garbin Group!

Experience the diverse sounds of the Daniel Garbin Group, a cross-cultural jazz ensemble led by guitarist, sitarist, and composer Daniel Garbin. Drawing on jazz, Indian classical, Latin, and Eastern European music, Garbin creates a personal sound that brings the sitar into contemporary jazz. A mathematician and college professor, Garbin develops a unique perspective on composition and improvisation, and as a recipient of a CUNY Grant, he will perform new works exploring the intersection of Indian classical music and jazz. His acclaimed album Rising showcases his innovative approach, earning praise from All About Jazz and Jazz Guitar Today, among others. Joining Garbin are extraordinary musicians: Varun Das (percussion), Nicki Adams (piano), and Trifon Dimitrov (bass).

This performance will take place in our full members’ show, In Quintessence. Featuring Denise Jones Adler, Ruth Antrich, Paul Blumenthal, Thomas Bühler, Gail Comes, Sydney Drum, Linda Dujack, Linda Ganus, Laurie Lamont Murray, Joseph O’Neill, Kenneth Nelson, Elizabeth Stern, and TAFA. In Quintessence is on view at Pictor Gallery through June 20th.
